What is a SeeLocal tour?
A SeeLocal tour is a self-guided outdoor walking experience. After booking online, every member of your group receives the tour via WhatsApp messages. The messages guide you from stop to stop with directions, location pins, hidden history, and — in Quest mode — puzzles and riddles that turn the city into an outdoor escape room.
Every stop is chosen for a reason: a layered local story, a striking view, or a photo moment worth sharing. You move at your own pace — linger as long as you like, circle back, or power through.
Tour modes
Explorer mode
A discovery walk focused on location stories, hidden history, and photo prompts at key landmarks. Each stop reveals something most visitors walk straight past — a forgotten building, a surprising view, a slice of local life. Perfect for families, first-timers, visitors, and anyone who wants a relaxed self-paced sightseeing experience.
Quest mode — outdoor escape room
Everything in Explorer mode, plus challenges and riddles at each stop. Teams solve clues, earn points for quick answers, and race the clock. Quest mode is essentially an outdoor escape room spread across real Auckland locations — ideal for groups who want a friendly competitive element and a bigger challenge. Suits corporate team days, birthday groups, and competitive friends.

Pricing
A Solo booking (1 person) costs NZ$7.50 (regular price NZ$10). A Team booking (up to 8 people, one shared booking) costs NZ$15 (regular price NZ$20).

SeeLocal vs guided walking tours
Guided walking tours run on a fixed schedule and require everyone to keep pace with the group. SeeLocal tours run entirely at your own pace — start any time, pause for coffee whenever you like, take detours, or stop early. There is no guide to wait for and no fixed departure time. If it starts raining, just resume tomorrow.
SeeLocal vs app-based tours
Most self-guided tour apps require downloading a new application, creating an account, and managing your experience inside the app. SeeLocal runs inside WhatsApp, which you almost certainly already have.
